Belgrade transport: free city rides and the airport

Ordinary Belgrade public transport has been free since 1 January 2025. The airport still needs one minute of attention because A1 follows different rules.

BELGRADE

Buses, trams, trolleybuses and BG Train in the integrated system are free for passengers.

That does not make every minibus free. Express services can sit outside the integrated system.

For once, the cheapest ticket is genuinely no ticket.

City network

Choose routes by convenience rather than fare. The center is also very walkable.

Check BG Prevoz for live changes.

Airport

Line 72 goes to Zeleni venac, 72N connects Republic Square and the airport, and 600 links Beograd Centar with the airport. The airport gives roughly 30–40 minutes for these routes.

Morning

A1 runs to Slavija in about 30 minutes.

Evening

For late arrivals, verify the current 72N timetable.

Walking and taxis

Kalemegdan, Knez Mihailova, Republic Square and Skadarlija form a natural walk.

Use taxis for real gaps, not by default.

What to eat

Free short rides make bakery detours dangerously easy.

What I would skip

Ignore pre-2025 ticket guides.

  • Old fare screenshots
  • Assuming A1 is free
  • Ignoring current timetables

Bottom line

Inside the city the system is unusually simple.

The airport is the only common exception worth remembering.

Check current routes on travel day.
